Verb Media - HP Commercial

While going through the movies at The Verb Media website I came across a commercial for HP (cebit). (It is under the Spring column in the Hop menu.) I recognized it and I thought it would be cool to analyze it. It's layout was interesting and caught my attention. It starts out with a man bending over some brilliantly colored flowers to take a picture. Out of the surrounding flowers comes the HP logo. (The + sign which appears very frequently throughout the commercial) The picture is still but the plus signs are moving drawing your attention to them. The camera moves and appears to be traveling through the photo to where you find a picture of the same man downloading the flower pictures onto the computer. Again, the plus signs are present. After that, clips of him printing out a large image of one of the flowers is shown. This process helps the viewer see how easy it is to make your own copies of your photographs and also how well it turns out.
The next section cuts to a moving clip of a woman taking pictures and the whole process is basically repeated like the first part only she makes a poster. It transitions to a man holding the poster and then him fishing all the while, the plus signs reappear and disappear in the color scheme of the rest of the footage. For example, the fishing scene has an autumn color scheme and therefore the plus signs are orange and brown. Next, the plus sign appears in scenes or pictures where businesses might use their technology and also near a boy listening to a portable music player. In the end it cuts back to a woman using a camera and the word create. This whole commercial is designed to show what HP technology can do, what it's used for and how it can benefit you as the viewer. It also uses their logo repeatedly so that in the future the viewer will recognize it and remember what it is for in hopes that they will buy their products. In conclusion, if these were the things that HP was aiming for, I think that they expressed their ideas well through this one commercial.
