Pirates of the Caribbean Teaser
I know that "Pirates of the Caribbean" was "so last Summer!" but I just love that movie! Anyway, I was at the Imaginary Forces Website and I noticed that they did a teaser for "Pirates of the Caribbean." Well, I had to check it out to see if I recognized it, and I did! (If you go to their projects, then to Entertainment Marketing, then Pirates of the Caribbean you can find it there.) It's so cool to see something you recognize and now know where it came from! So, in this little teaser, the first thing you see is a sun rising in a time lapse with a harrowing, pulsating score playing in the background. It then cuts to some palm trees bending in a strong wind with type reading: "Welcome To The Caribbean" with the music playing throughout the whole teaser. There's a lot of video of the ocean, obviously because where else would pirates reside, including a clip that is used over and over throughout the trailer of an aerial view of the water as if you were gliding close to it in a helicopter. At these points, phrases move along then splash into the ocean. Some of the phrases are: "Over 3000 Islands of Paradise", and, "For Some It's a Blessing", and, "for others:", "It's a Curse". In between, there are clips of the sun again, sharks, waves, etc. The aerial view comes to an island that resembles a skull. To emphasize it, they had a storm come in and when lightening flashed, you could see the skull more clearly. It then cuts to the title screen where it says "Pirates of the Caribbean" and the skull is behind it upon a flag.
Next is the credits part where the text is hovering over extreme close-ups of a sword and the shadow if the text is reflecting on the sword. There is also narration as the credits are played. The voice is connecting together all of the names that you are watching. When it is finished, the music stops abruptly and you see a skeleton foot walk along the ocean floor which is "foot"age (haha! Sorry!) from the movie. The music charges in again and the flag with the skull comes back. "Summer 2003" is zoomed slowly on the screen indicating when to expect this film followed by a sword that slashes it away to show the black and white information about the film and who is producing it.
I thought this was a good teaser for not using any of the actors in the film. In fact I think only one clip from the movie was used and the rest was just pieces of everyday things or animation put together. I remember seeing this ad when I was at the movies and even though I didn't see parts of the movie in it, I still was excited to come back and see the real movie. Leaving you with these "Pirates of the Caribbean" lines:
Will Turner: This is either madness...or brilliance.
Jack Sparrow: It's remarkable how often those two traits coincide.
